Ann Rikkers is a spirited, playful woman in her middle years, whose path into the world of ceramics was anything but planned. She stumbled upon it almost by accident. Initially, the fine motor skills required for throwing clay and making molds didn’t seem like her thing. But everything changed four years ago, during a break at the academy where she worked. Wandering into the ceramics studio, something clicked. Ann had found her element.

Clay became her outlet as an artist — a tactile, expressive medium that matched her energy and vision. Since then, she has developed a unique and recognizable style: colorful stripes, bold shapes, and a direct, joyful presence that radiates from her work. Her ceramic objects are an extension of her drawings, bringing the same sense of fun and brightness.

They make people smile. That’s the magic of Ann Rikkers.
